ALLIGATOR sens.it® - the programmable tire pressure sensor

The universal TPMS solution for professionals

According to the European Union Vehicle Ordinance 661/2009, all vehicles in the classes M1/M1G (passenger vehicles/motor homes) must be equipped with a tire pressure monitoring system as standard equipment starting in November 2014. This legislation will massively affect the service procedures in tire replacement centers: service times will be extended, new hardware for diagnosing TPM systems will have to be purchased, and sensors suitable for each vehicle will have to be available on short notice. Warehousing and logistics, maintenance and diagnostics of TPM systems, as well as professional communication with customers, will become important topics for tire dealers.

An increasing number of different tire pressure sensors
Usually tire pressure sensors in the original equipment were developed for specific vehicles or platforms. This results in a rapidly increasing number of different sensors, which are then needed when servicing the vehicle. Fast availability of replacement sensors is of essential for keeping costs low and service times short, and above all, not losing the customer to the competition.

Newly installed sensors must be relearned to the vehicle
In many cases, a newly installed sensor must be relearned to the vehicle. This enables the sensor to communicate the wheel position where the new sensor is located to the control unit in the vehicle. This relearn procedure can be time-intensive and error prone - and it varies from vehicle to vehicle.

As a long-term OE supplier of TPM tire valves, ALLIGATOR took on the task of developing a very simple and practice-oriented solution for the replacement market that takes the problems cited above into account:

ALLIGATOR sens.it® -
just one TPM sensor for (almost) all vehicles

With the sens.it system, ALLIGATOR has developed the ideal solution for coping with the multiplicity of necessary sensors and, in many cases, making the expensive relearning processes for new sensors superfluous.

The sens.it sensor, unprogrammed when delivered, can be programmed at the repair shop to become a just-in-time vehicle-specific spare part. This reduces complex and cost-intensive warehousing needs, since one sensor-valve version can be installed in almost all vehicles on the market.Customers no longer have to wait for the right spare part. Installation is standardized, i.e. one simple installation procedure, using the same tool each time, is now possible. All this, and the OE quality you expect from ALLIGATOR!

Three simple steps to a successful TPMS service:

  1. The constantly updated application software for programming can be downloaded at:
www.alligator-sensit.com free of charge and installed on any PC or laptop with the Windows operating system.

  2. Connect the ALLIGATOR sens.it programming device, developed for the program, to a free USB port on the computer.

  3. After opening the installed application, a brief registration process is executed. Done! When finished, the first sensor can be programmed.

ALLIGATOR sens.it® in practice
Two paths to the serial number:
Reduce relearn expense!

1)   Duplicate (clone) the previously installed sensor
A duplicate of the component with the same ID can be produced using the serial number (ID) of the current original sensor to be replaced. With this procedure, relearning the sensor to the vehicle is no longer necessary; a clear advantage that saves time in customer service. The wheel with the new sens.it sensor is installed at the same/identical wheel position. That's it!

2)   Sensor with new serial number
A sensor with a new serial number can be created automatically with two clicks of the mouse in the application software. A sensor with a new ID basically must be relearned to the vehicle, this can be carried out automatically using the OBDII diagnostic interface or manually using the onboard computer. Information about which programming method is used is provided in the vehicle technical manual. Naturally each ALLIGATOR sens.it sensor can be (re)programmed multiple times.

ALLIGATOR sens.it® -
always the right valve for your vehicle:

Sensor RS3 434 MHz with aluminum valve - suitable for almost all applications
ALLIGATOR's aluminum valve, proven millions of times over as original equipment is used. The patented Ball-Joint design enables use of this valve/sensor version in almost all steel and aluminum wheels on the market. The valve is made of high quality aluminum alloy and is permanently protected against corrosion by an additional anodized coating.
The sens.it sensor is equal to today's original sensors with respect to functionality and quality.

The valve is available in the colors:
silver, titanium gray, black, and
anodized chrome.
It matches the look of your rim!

Sensor RS4 434 MHz with rubber valve
The snap-in version RS4 can be used on vehicles that were originally delivered with a rubber valve version of the TPMS, and which cannot exceed 210 km/h at their highest speed. Sensor and valve are connected using a patented clip-pin mechanism, so that replacement of the valve at each tire change is significantly facilitated.

Compatibility with conventional TPMS diagnostic devices
sens.it sensors from ALLIGATOR can also be read-out and programmed using TPMS diagnostic devices of all leading suppliers. For more information, contact your sens.it dealer.
